IndieCade Mobile 3D Game Jam

LG Electronics presents

INDEPENDENT GAME DEVELOPERS are invited to participate in a two-day game jam, August 6th - 7th, to create games for the LG Thrill 4G, the world's first 3D smartphone. The LG Thrill 4G, using Real 3D, offers glasses-free 3D, front-and-rear cameras, 3D video capture and more. Participating developers will compete to create innovative, compelling, playful game protoypes that explore the dimensionality of this new 3D game platform.
A panel of distinguished judges will select finalists from the game jam to be further developed and shown at a special exhibition at IndieCade 2011. Finalists whose games are presented will receive Unity Pro Licenses, and will be eligible to win the LG Mobile 3D Award to be presented at the Red Carpet Awards Ceremonies to be held at Culver Studios in Culver City October 7th, 2011. Awardees will also receive an LG Thrill 4G phone.
Sponsored by global consumer electronics leader LG and produced by IndieCade, the international festival of independent games, with additional support from from Unity and Alienware, the IndieCade Mobile 3D Game Jam will be hosted in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California's Interactive Media Division. Developers will have access to state of the art development facilities, including hardware and software to develop innovative prototypes for this cutting edge technology. LG Real 3D development kits and LG Thrill 4G phones will be on-hand for developers to test and play their prototypes.  Games can be created in Unity, Android, and Java. For more on developing for LG Real 3D, visit: http://developer.lgmobile.com/real3d/ Developers will retain ownership of their own IP produced during the game jam.
The event will be open to all indie game developers, including students and those employed at major studios, who have previous experience developing games.  Thank you to everyone who came out!

GameDevDrinkUp July

What a great showing we had during our E3 GameDevDrinkUp! We had over 100 attendees, with plenty of new faces, including game developers from across the country. It was the first time our Los Angeles and San Francisco groups got together under one roof, and it couldn’t have turned out better. Thank you for making it out on the last day of E3 – seemed everyone had a great time. I know I did.

Now that we’re all rested and back to our normal selves (some of us, maybe), it’s almost time for our next GameDevDrinkUp for LA and SF. Due to a great showing, room for all and the kind staff, we’re taking over McCabe’s Bar & Grill in Santa Monica and Jillian's in San Fransisco again. Our events will start simultaneously and will do our best to merge the two groups and make them feel as one using iPad’s FaceTime.

If you’d like to donate to our GameDevDrinkUp giveaways hosted at each event, contact us for details: @JonathanHawkins for LA and @WarrenPrice for SF. It’s a great way to show your support, promote your company and make the evening fun. Who doesn’t like #winning? Past giveaway items include games, point cards and movies.
